Nassau Radiologic Group, P.C. is pleased to announce IMAGING FOR HEALTH, a new service designed to offer examinations for the early detection of lung cancer, cardiovascular disease, and colon polyps. Whole body screening examinations can also be performed when appropriate. Dental imaging to guide the placement of implants is also available. The early detection of lung cancer is accomplished by using low dose computed tomography (CT). Virtual Colonography is an exciting new CT technique, which is capable of detecting polyps as small as 5 mm. with the same accuracy as conventional colonoscopy without any of the risks or need for anesthesia. The detection of coronary artery disease is accomplished by using CT performed in a special manner such that calcification within the coronary arteries, one of the signs of coronary artery disease, is detected. This information will assist your internist or cardiologist in assessing your risk for a heart attack or myocardial infarction (MI). We can also use the non invasive technique of carotid ultrasound to determine if there is any plaque or narrowing in the carotid arteries in the neck in order to determine the risk of stroke and potential need for anticoagulant therapy. The accuracy and ultimate cosmetic result of placement of dental implants can be greatly improved by using CT dental imaging. Nassau Radiologic Group through IMAGING FOR HEALTH uses the latest version of software produced by the nation's leading dental software designer, Columbia Scientific, to accomplish superb results. Additional imaging techniques such as screening for ovarian carcinoma with pelvic CT and sonography are also offered.
